Intention setting is something we do consciously through mindfulness practices. Conscious, positive intention setting can be a very powerful ritual when intentions are clearly defined and are meaningful to you and feel right…they may even lead to a positive outcome for others. The frequency at which you perform your intention setting activities differentiates the practice from routine to ritual. For example, you may choose to set new intentions or revisit older ones following a moon calendar, every new business quarter, each Sunday for the week ahead or for a new year…it’s all up to you to know when it feels right with purpose. Intentions become the language and breath for manifestation where you can leverage language to create a “better reality”, to become your best self while reflecting your deepest desires and ultimately your happiest version of yourself. You can set mindful intentions by considering how to add value (abundance) wherever you are…your income, your happiness etc… Your
self-abundance in life is directly proportional to the amount of value you give to others, both in business and your personal life. BE specific and make your statements “I am statements” from the heart.
The Practice:
1. Pick a place where you can BE authentic with yourself, a place that inspires, relaxes or even a place that challenges you (dance with the uncomfortable). You may want to create a specific ritual space in your home so that you have access to your own things, ability to play music, light candles, choose your favorite crystals or essential oils and introduce any other personal touches you may desire.
2. Get in the right mindset! Set time aside to transition from whatever you were doing prior so that you may BE present with just you!
3. Engage your mind…write down an intention and some “I am” statements in a journal so that you can repeat the mantra in your mind while performing the breath practice. Write them as if they are happening right now, as if you are already living that life! Close your eyes and feel your intention and the statements you would like to rememBEr to tell yourself.
4. Sit comfortably in an upright position with your back straight.
5. Check in with yourself and take a deep breath in through your nose and on the exhale release any negative thoughts or blocks with a loud and long tone (AUM). Repeat this at least 2 more times or until you feel as if you are in the zone for intention setting.
6. Memorize 3 of your top “I am” statements related to your intention.
7. Play relaxing music with a 4:4 rhythm.
8. Set your phone alarm for 5-minutes.
9. Breathe diaphragmatically (belly breathing) in and out through your nose to the rhythm of the music. Inhale for 4-seconds and exhale for 8-seconds. Breathe rhythmically like a wave without forcing the breath and without any pauses. Follow this pattern for the full 5-minutes repeating the three (3) “I am” statements you memorized in your mind and visualize them in your mind’s eye.
Close your breath Practice by hugging yourself and telling yourself “I am enough”.
10. Reflect – visualize what it looks like for you to achieve and manifest your intention and record it in your breathwork journal. Recall how you felt before the practice and how you felt after completing it. Your central nervous system should be in balance within the 5-minute extended exhale practice.
Weekly Breath Challenge: Set aside at least 10-minutes each day this week to be with you…all of you and mindfully breathe with your intention and “I am” statements to manifest what you desire most. Post them in a place where you will see them throughout the day and journal your experience this week! In future weeks, look for the evidence around you to see and feel your connection to the universe from these moments.
With love and gratitude …just breathe and let peace be your guide!
