Breathing In Heartbeats

Many of us have a tendency to reflect on our personal and business lives as each new year approaches …what we did well, what didn’t work for us, what was our greatest memory or greatest disappointment and then…we begin to plan new goals and expectations for the new year! For example, I want to lose 10-pounds in 10-weeks or I want to have a new job within 6-months. Sound familiar? Well…what if you set goals without expectations? I don’t mean going into a new year without a loving and heartfelt Knowing of the direction you would like to take. What if you didn’t see the end product as a thing such as more money, a new house, losing 10-pounds in 10-weeks or being hired in a new job within 6-months? How about instead of the focus being on the “outcome”, you transform your magikal energy into the “income”…the abundance in all areas of your life that comes from within, a better quality of life that comes from within you? YOU have the power to transform all of the energy (both positive and
negative) that you experience in the outer world (external environment) to positive energy in your inner world with love and gratitude.

BE present for yourself and schedule a daily appointment with yourself to just BE with you! These moments can provide downloads from the universe for clarity …to learn more about you, by being in the moment with you, by loving the parts you love about you and by acknowledging the parts you would like to transform. You can let yourself know that you see all of you especially the parts that evoke emotion. You can let those parts of you know that you are there with them and that you will not leave them and that you love them unconditionally. Spend time to find out what all of those parts would like to tell you in these moments that YOU create for just you to BE!

When I sit with me, one of my favorite breathwork practices is to breathe in heartbeats…my heartbeats, with intention! Here’s the technique for how you can breathe in yours and transform in a short period of time and shift your vibrational energy to a balanced flow state.

The Practice:
1. Sit comfortably in an upright position with your back straight.
2. Check in with yourself by placing your hands on your heart and ask your heart what it is feeling today and if there is anything it would like to share with you about yourself related to total abundance in your life or an enhancement to your life style. With the first thing that pops into your head and without judgement, set a loving intention for this practice.
3. Place your index and middle fingers on your wrist and find your resting pulse and count your own natural heartbeat.
4. Breathe diaphragmatically and rhythmically to your heartbeat : inhale through your nose for a count of 6 of your heartbeats and then exhale through your mouth for 6 of your heartbeats…do this cyclically and smoothly for 5-minutes.


NOTE: If your resting heart rate is around 60 bmp, then the frequency of each breath cycle will be 0.1 HZ because your heart is beating on average at 1 beat per second. Entraining your breath to this frequency is a great way to reach heart coherence (harmony between your parasympathetic [rest & digest] and sympathetic [flight or fight] nervous systems).

If you have a heart rate monitoring device with blue tooth (Polaris), you can download a heart coherence app on your phone to measure your heart coherence. YOU can shift into heart coherence within 5-minutes.

Close your breath Practice by hugging yourself and don’t forget to journal your experience and intention.
